Tips go directly to your tour guide.

Yes, we do! We offer a £ 10 discount when you book both car tours. There is no overlap in content between the car tours.

The tour is only suited for cars and very small campervans due to limited parking space at our stops.

To keep the group size small and due to the limited parking space at our stops we can only take a max. of 2 cars on the advertised car tours. Should you be a larger group, please contact us, and we can do a bespoke tour according to your interests.

No. We will only drive on standard roads and park in designated parking areas. Please note, for the tour to the south we will travel along a single-track road for a short distance that is easy to navigate.

We stop for max. 15 minutes at the stops along the route. If you have problems standing for longer times, you can stay seated in your car and our guides will stand next to you while they talk.

For the longer stop at the halfway point of each tour, please see below.

Car tour south: At Lael Forest Garden we take a short stroll to see giant trees, plus a short detour to a bridge. We will walk on a good path with firm gravel surface. It is possible to omit the walks if this suits you better. Some of the huge trees can be seen from the car park as well.

Car tour north: At Knockan Crag we will walk up a short section of a steep hill with stone steps to see the exposed Moine Thrust. This will take approx. 10 minutes one-way. The narrow path is safe for most people, but could be a problem if you are scared of heights or have trouble walking. If you feel uneasy under such conditions, taking a walking pole might be a good idea. You can also enjoy stunning views from the parking area. We also have a photo of the exposed Moine Thrust with us to show it to you if you’d prefer to not go up the hill.

Yes! We love to engage with our customers and are happy to answer all questions you have as best as we can.

Car tour south: Unfortunately, there aren’t any toilets on the way. This is the main reason why we have limited this tour to 2 hours or a bit longer. There are public toilets in Ullapool in West Argyle Street.

Car tour north: Public toilets are at Knockan Crag. We arrive there usually in under an hour into the tour.

We recommend comfortable shoes and clothing according to the weather. Ullapool’s weather changes quickly, but as you made it all the way up here we are sure you have noticed already!

The car tour north will cover 25 miles (40 km) there and back, the car tour south is 22.5 miles (36 km) there and back. The tours have been designed to minimise driving time and maximise the time you have to listen to the stories of your tour guide. We will stop every few minutes.

The car tour north can be done one-way as well and will then finish at Knockan Crag. Please let us know in advance that you wish to do that and we will increase the duration of the stops on the journey to include the information we would normally provide on the way back. Please note, there will be fewer, but longer stops than on the standard tour. Additional cost: £ 10.

Unfortunately, we can’t offer the car tour south one-way. The reason for this is that there are not enough parking areas on the left side of the road. We feel that stopping only a few times on the way and extending the stops to last for 20 minutes or even longer would not give you the best customer experience.

For bespoke tours, e.g. to the Corrieshalloch Gorge or further afield, please feel free to contact us.

Your party can consist of max. 10 people in max. 2 cars. For larger groups, please contact us for prices and alternative arrangements due to limited parking space.
